Today marks 2-years that Zane Tyson and I arrived at St. Jude. How fitting that I would find this poem he wrote for a school assignment today. This was written in May 2014. Ever popular was his love for skateboarding! And according to this poem, he was going 8 years strong with skateboarding, which would put him at age 7 when he began the sport. Makes sense. I would take him to skatepark in Warrenton, Virginia back in those days.

Wood and Wheels
It’s been eight years and I still keep pushing. I push until I can push no farther. And when I get tired, breathless, panting. I kick my foot and push even harder. I’m free. The wood feels good, and so do I. I’m free. The sky is blue, the sun is bright. I’m free. I kick, I push, I breath, I ride. I’m free. I ride by day, I ride by night. I skate. The wind blows hard, I push with force. I skate. I’ve dreamed to be this free since birth. I skate. There is no path, there is no course. I skate. There’s no better feeling on Earth. I’m free. When I am stressed, break out I will. I’m free. The way I feel, this can’t be real.
FLY HIGH. SKATE HARD. SHINE ON. #CloudSkaterZaner
