Make like Young MC and "Bust a Move"

Hi Zaner Fans! Our handsome fella is springing loose from the joint today! That's right! Homeward bound later today. We had the consults we needed, so we are outta here!

There is good news, so let's start there. There is still NED (no evidence of disease) in Zane's brain. Cancer still not present. So, take THAT, you big C bully. Also, what was thought to be a layer of blood on Zane's brain, indicating a brain bleed, has been further investigated and it now appears it is actually a thickening of his subdural layer (so no hematoma).

Which leads us to the not so good news...this layer on his brain that is thickening indicates additional trauma and with each event he's suffered, his brain is atrophying. Spaces are opening and allowing this thickness to occur. What does this mean? It means Zane's TBI is so severe that here, a year out, it's not likely he will recover. But it's not like we didn't know that already and doesn't mean we do anything any different than we have, celebrating life however we live it. And...never thinking for one second a miracle could happen that will #MakeZaneBetter

It was overwhelmingly emotional to talk to the AdventHealth neuro oncologist, Dr. Makar, yesterday. We hadn't seen each other in 18 months; he consulted with us back then, before we chose to go to St. Jude. He's been following Zane's story and he walked in yesterday saying "My God. What has happened? How did we get here?" Nobody knows. Every doctor that sees Zane just doesn't get it. Sometimes, it's just too much to comprehend.
