Well, hello there. Hope everyone is have a good Monday. Tough morning after staying up late to watch that crazy Bills vs Chiefs game last night. Wow, that was a crazy one!
So, continuing on with stories of Zane through the mementos people left behind for him at his Celebration...you might want to grab a tissue for this one.
My friend Kimberly Buz left behind this amethyst stone. She told me at Zane's Celebration that she brought it back from Indiana in 1994 and it had a special meaning. But it wasn't until yesterday we caught up and I got the backstory on this amethyst stone. Here it is:
Back in 1994, when Kim was 22, she had a good friend named Jamie. The last night she ever saw him was after being out having fun with friends. She and her friends came back to her house after going out and then they left, but Jamie never made it home. The guy who was driving the motorcycle Jamie was on crashed into a tree and Jamie's neck was broken and he died instantly. A few days later, three carloads of Kim and her friends drove to Indiana for Jamie's funeral. His mother gave Kim this amethyst stone. She knew Kim was the last person to see Jamie alive.
Kim told me yesterday that Jamie was one of the most genuine people she'd ever known. Amethyst is also Kim and Zane's birthstone (they are both mid-February). So, with those two factors, Kim decided passing this amethyst stone on to Zane felt right.
So, this post is to thank Kim for the stone and to both Jamie and Zane, our gems in heaven. I will treasure this forever and think of them both when I look at it.
