Hello again from Methodist University in Memphis. We are still on Floor 7. We managed to squeak through Zane's respiratory issues in the night and not get kicked back to ICU. But we have to hope he doesn't have a drastic saturation dip again like that. A dozen staff from various departments aren't meant to be in a step-down unit working on a patient. That's what ICU units are for, so pray he's eyes forward on that.
Speaking of eyes, he's still not coming around neurologically. His EEG showed brain activity and alertness, but was "abnormal" citing "Encephalopathy"
Encephalopathy dictionary meaning: damage or disease that affects the brain. It happens when there's been a change in the way your brain works or a change in your body that affects your brain. Those changes lead to an altered mental state, leaving you confused and not acting like you usually do.

It's a "catch-all" diagnosis and doesn't really give us any real answers. It's really up to Zane to recover and come around and I wish I could just shake him and say "wake up!"
Outside of all that, I'm getting NOWHERE at lightning speed and working through all the obstacles to bring home. It's all overwhelming. I have teams of people researching, but for each question, there are 7 answers, with 10 more individual questions. I wonder if there's a legal firm that handles these typed of complicated cases? The national Patient Advocacy Foundation were ZERO help and in fact, gave me hard "no" answers to questions we've already gotten "yes" to.
I've kept the phone on silent and am trying to just get my head back in a better place. Need a weekend of down time and just being with Zane. #MakeZaneBetter #BringZaneHome
