The Medical Diagnostics Begin!

Hey all. Quick one here to say that Zane has a big day tomorrow and prayers and good wishes are in order if you have some to send his way. He's had his brain MRI yesterday and will have a spine MRI tomorrow. So, those two things, coupled with LUMBAR PUNCTURES (spinal taps) scheduled for tomorrow will determine Zane's precise course of treatment. We've had some pretty good indications so far what to expect, but this will fine tune it. These lumbar punctures are no joke and he will be sedated for them. So send along some love his way. His anesthesia hangovers are the worst.

Also, check out picture attached. This is the mesh face mask that will be used to make Zane's mold for his radiation treatment. This, along with careful "planning," where they lay him in place and simulate the radiation, placing him in the perfect positions and measuring to the millimeter will keep the radiation focused on the specific areas needed and away from where it isn't needed.

We also now are using our St. Jude app. It gives you your schedule to the minute and sends reminders through the day if things shift or something cool is happening and you want to participate (like today a therapy dog had his birthday party...he turned 2!). They are so advanced here it's mind-blowing. We can have a conversation with the radiology folks, go to our next appointment in the clinic and they have the notes already and have already adjusted anything based on what happened 5 minutes ago in another part of the hospital.
